BANGALORE: Java is into its tenth year and is still a hot brew! From mobile applications and gaming to being deployed on the Mars Rover, the proof of its appeal even now is endorsed by the 2500 strong developer crowd that turned up at the key-note of Sun Tech Days in Bangalore.

Debuted in May 1995, it was initially used to create moving images on static HTML pages. The programming language which had the slogan 'Write once, run anywhere' as its credo, literally has gone places. The first edition JDK was launched in 1996.

"The founder of Java, James Gosling, is now working on bringing out technology innovations with Real Time Java," said Gosling's boss and, Sun's VP, Java Developer and Strategy, Jeff Jackson.

Java at present drives around $100 billion worth of business annually.
