apps for phones announce today the availability of Version 2 of the leading RAD tool for creating applications for phones and other wireless devices that support the J2ME Standard. This product enables software developers, whatever their skills to build applications for mobile phones. The visual designer allows for a “drag and drop�? development process and the automatic separation of UI from business logic simplifies the complex issues associated with porting J2ME applications between different phones. It provides easy integration with Web Services, which enables developers to integrate legacy systems and Internet servers.
Version 2 provides a major increase in both functionality and capabilities. Amongst the many enhancements to the product, there are two main new features stand out. Firstly the introduction of wireless messaging means that applications written with apps for phones can now send and receive information via the SMS network, they can even wakeup the application where necessary. This enables push data services on mass-market devices. Secondly and even more exciting is the addition of support for the Basic programming language. Now the millions of Basic programmers throughout the world can build sophisticated applications on mobile phones with out the need to learn Java.
