Unicode Input Method Editor
The Unicode IME is a tool that can assist in identification of globalization problems as early as possible in the development cycle and that can provide a simple mechanism for easily recreating globalization problems. It is being made available to the Java development community to improve the efficiency and quality of globalization testing.
The Unicode standard is an industry-wide standard for representing the writing systems of the world. There are few tools available for verifying that a JavaTM application correctly handles arbitrary Unicode character data. In many cases, a developer or a tester is required to have a national language environment (for example, Japanese version of Windows®), in order to ascertain whether an application supports a particular script. The Unicode IME helps to solve this problem by not requiring a tester to have a national language environment to test support for a particular language.
